Student will engage in reader's and writer's workshop to build their reading and writing skills. Over the course of school year students will write narrative essays, personal narratives, argument essays, and fictional stories. They will be reading in different genres to build their reading comprehension and research skills.
Students will be assessed through rubrics for each unit of study. They set academic goals according to these rubrics and use the rubrics to meet standards on assessments. Through conferencing and written comments students will receive feedback on their progress towards meeting the standards for each unit of study.
